Downtown Boise and Historic North End
Restaurants, Shops, Culture, and Art fill the streets of Downtown Boise - along with state-of-the-art medical facilities. Downtown Boise is also home to many Idaho state and Ada county government offices, and all the commecial industries necessary - full service printing, ad agencies, law firms, accounting and real estate services. The historic buildings throughout this region may be over 100 years old and serve equally well as residences and offices. Key Housing trends in the Downtown area include:
- BODO, a new commercial district spanning several blocks in 8th Street Marketplace, is currently under construction.
- Multiple Condominium projects are in varying states of planning and completion, including Royal Plaza
- A thriving North End Neighborhood Association supports community involvement in downtown planning and economic development.
Boise Foothills
The foothills form a northern border against downtown Boise and foothills living offers hiking and biking trails, and fabulous views of the city center. The Boise National Forest and Bogus Basin Ski Resort are visible to the North.
East Boise
The valley narrows to the East of Boise, as Warm Springs Avenue winds into the hills toward Lucky Peak Reservoir and onward to the mountains and Idaho City. River, Foothills, and Mesa living are close to Downtown, Boise State University, and the Park Center district which houses Corporate offices for such Boise firms as Washington Group International and Albertsons. Summer entertainment opportunities include the Idaho Shakespeare Festival's outdoor ampitheatre.
Boise Bench
A slight rim lies to the south of Boise's river, forming the Bench. Old homesteads and new subdivisions mingle here with easy access to Boise's Interstate 84. This region is also closest to Micton Technology Inc., one of Boise's largest employers with facilities located to the SouthEast.
